What is a DAMA?

Supporting regional employers to address workforce shortages

A Designated Area Migration Agreement (DAMA) is an agreement between the Australian Government and a designated area. This enables businesses to address specific labour shortages within said area.

The Goulburn Valley (GV) DAMA enables the region’s employers to sponsor skilled and semi-skilled overseas workers. These jobs are specifically for positions they are unable to fill with local workers.

Greater Shepparton City Council, the Designated Area Representative (DAR) manages and oversees the DAMA in the Goulburn Valley region.

The DAMA is an employer-sponsored visa program and individual workers cannot apply independently. Employers must apply to the Designated Area Representative (DAR) to access the DAMA for the occupations, concessions and number of workers they require.
